Roenick retires/ Eaves joins Red Wings

Here’s what’s new in the NHL:

The San Jose Sharks have announced that forward Jeremy Roenick has decided to retire. Roenick, 39, played with the Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes, and of course, San Jose.

The New York Rangers are officially done with forward Nikolai Zherdev. The Rangers refused arbitration with Zherdev, so he becomes an unrestricted free agent. The 24-year old looks to sign with a team before the season starts.

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Patrick Eaves to a one-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.

That’s it for now. I gotta go!
